About
ME:
Let me tell you a little about me. Born on October 25, 1979 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center I have lived a fantastic life thus far and can’t wait to see my dreams and plans unveil. I have lived my entire life in Kansas City and the surrounding areas. I currently reside in Paola, KS which coincidentally is where I met my gorgeous wife, Susanna. If she had not found me I would be a lost soul on a path to complete self destruction. My name? My name is Jason J Culbertson and you are about to become “Lost in My Thoughts”!
MY WIFE:
Susanna was a wonderful woman I met through a mutual friend of ours. She was in a horrible marriage and was seeking divorce from man who had been incarcerated for doing terrible things. Wouldn’t you know that they met at a church camp? This just goes to show you, you can’t always trust a fellow Christian. She was so horrified by what had happened that she needed a shoulder to cry on and I was there for her as was she for me. Her short months old marriage was quickly dissolved and we began a friendship that blossomed over night and is bound to last a lifetime.
She actually proposed to me one night during dinner with another mutual friend of ours. Romantic was not the word. She took me in the basement/garage of my mom’s house, this is where we were having dinner that night, sat me on a chair, dropped to a knee and popped the question (also stating “I know you want 12 children, but since 13 is your lucky number how about 13 instead”. I was in complete shock, my jaw dropped to the dirty concrete basement floor but I responded almost immediately with a yes. I honestly never thought that anyone would ever want as many children as me.
Susanna and I were happily married in January of 2002. We decided to have a small and secluded wedding at the local courthouse. Among the attendees were my mother, stepdad, one of my sisters Kali, Amy and Brian (family friends), and of course our oldest 2 girls. We choose not to make a gigantic event out of it because we had already found each other, what more did we need. We just wanted to share our lives together. Plus we knew of too many people who might try and stop the marriage as well. There were a lot of jealous girls that Susanna had to fend of and she did an awesome job at it.
Our Children:
Our children are the entire world to us. Family has always been first in our lives and will continue to be that as we mature in our relationship, our lives and our careers. Children are the foundation to the future and it is so important, I think especially now in this day and age, we need to populate in large families to have a support system in place to bring each other up in a positive light in a not so positive world.
Skye (The Teenager)
Wow, what can I say about Skye? We call her our little teenager. At the ripe old age of 8, drama is “Totally” in her life as of now. She is all about the “Seriously” and the “Whatever”. Little miss attitude can be found reading a book, playing with Bratz and possibly on a good day actually doing what she is told. She is always the life of the party, even when there is no party. She is intrigued by the fact that Mommy and Daddy work from home and she hopes to harness the power to do this when she gets older.
She is very intelligent in the way she tries to pull the wool over our eyes. Well at least she thinks so. She already tries to test us to see just how far she can pull us out of comfort zone. So far she is not succeeding.
Marayah (The Know it All)
Marayah is the all knowing, sees all and trouble making twin. 8 Years old and she knows it all. She is a great reader but Arithmetic is not her strong suit. She loves to do spelling bees at home and usually wins all of them. She is the “I am the winner” shouting type. She does cute little dances when she wins too, but we have had to explain that it is poor sportsmanship to dance like that in front of the loser. It’s great to be excited but another thing to be in your face.
She has some great assets as well, such as ….. I might have to come back to this one later.
She also tries and sometimes succeeds at getting her twin in a heap of trouble. Skye may be the instigator most of the time but Marayah handles enough of the plots to try and achieve power and fails miserably getting herself in hot water. She may be the know it all but Mommy and Daddy KNOW better.
Krystayl (The Princess)
Ahhhhh! The 5 year old. She is like a breath of fresh crisp morning air. She is like that Citrus smell when your house turns into the wood pledge scent after dusting the furniture. The smell of the Dutch apple crumb pie when being warmed in the oven. This is my favorite pie just so you know. You won’t often hear us yelling at her because she is usually as quiet as a mouse. A very shy yet affectionate child and loves to learn, play and create almost anything.
Krystayl’s favorite pastime is art in any form and with any medium that you will venture to give her. She can be a LITTLE pushy and bossy when it comes to her younger siblings but doesn’t let the older ones get away with anything.
We also call her our little Snitch, she will tell on anyone that is doing anything wrong as long as there is no way to tie it back to her. If it can be construed that she had any play in it at all, she will devise a plan to complete the mission and maintain it “Top Secret”. If anyone even thinks of turning her over she will somehow find a way to make it their fault.
Kymberley (The Care Bear)
She is the most loving and affectionate child I have ever come into contact with. At 4 years old she will give everyone a hug and tell them she loves them with just a slight hello. She is also very polite most of the time using her manners and thanking you for doing anything for her.
She loves her hair to be done and played with, and with that long flowing blond hair, how can you not love to twirl it in between your fingers. She walks around making sure that everyone is alright all the time and is the first to let us know if someone is injured, crying or stumbled meanwhile consoling them until the professionals get there. She is our little Care Bear.
She gets very upset if someone will not do what she says or help her with such things as cleaning the play room, making the beds, etc…. She usually is our little maid so to speak. She will clean the play room all by herself if she has to. She will also make everyone’s beds so that they will look very tidy.
She is also our little perfectionist. She takes very much after me. I am a perfectionist on most things. Everyone also says that I am in the perfect line of work for being a perfectionist and I am sure that Kymberley will be sure to follow in my footsteps.
William (The Lost Soul)
Ah, our poor boy. As for my son, he is a lost soul in the stormy sea of estrogen and BOY does it show. He is constantly crying saying that one of the other girls is picking on him or took a toy away. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad he cries instead of retaliating but it does get old when it happens every 10 minutes or so throughout the day.
This boy is scared of everything, fears all of the girls (even the younger ones) and loves to play dress up or “pretty princesses” as the girls call it. I think he does it just so the girls won’t eat him alive. I personally think he is even scared of being 3 years old.
His favorite past time though is the same as his father’s at that age, Hot Wheels. He loves his cars and his mat that he plays on. That is like his sanctuary away from the evil that is our girls. If he could go on a vacation anywhere in the world, it would be to someone else’s house that has a lot of boys to play with.
He does like playing action figures, cars, and doctor, which I am not so sure that is the best thing at his young age just yet. After all daddy started playing “Doctor” at too young of an age as well. It almost got me in trouble a couple times as a teenager. As Will Smith says sometimes “Girls ain’t Nothin but Trouble” and he was absolutely correct. My son will definitely agree as he tries to hide out from our girls sometimes hoping they can’t smell the fear that is William.
Sarah (The Drama Queen)
Seriously this wonderful child is the Queen of all drama queens. I wish you could have heard the sarcasm in my voice when I said wonderful. She is the crier of all criers, the demon child. Why do I call her the demon child, because when she gets mad she starts yelling in this real deep and raspy voice that would scare just about anyone young or old. Luckily for me, nothing scares me other than the thought of losing one of my family members. 2 or 4 legged. Sarah is definitely a force to be reckoned with. She will not back down from any fight. She is to the point now that anytime we say here name, even if it is to tell her to get in her chair for a meal, she starts bawling her eyes out because she has been put in time out for fighting so much. I now grasp the concept of the terrible 2’s. She is BY FAR the WORST 2 year old we have had yet. I mean that in the most loving and affectionate way a father could say it.
She will share on occasion and she does do some of Krystayl’s dirty work as well. She now knows how to remove the lid from Vanessa’s Sippy cup so that Krystayl can have a drink if we are not moving fast enough with there’s. In our house we serve from youngest to oldest. Krystayl being somewhere near the end, tends to get a little impatient and Sarah is more than happy to help her out.
Sarah is also our little news caster. She loves to let us know if Vanessa is in need of a Diaper change. Sarah’s favorite line, “Nessa needs new butt, mommy”! I have to applaud her though because she always calls on the right person for the job. She will also yell it over and over again until you have taken care of the situation.
Vanessa (Our little Pooh)
Our little Pooh is one year old and has not quite found herself yet. She is not confident yet but is very much headed in that direction. The student has now become the teacher, in a way, in her relationship with Sarah. She now knows how to very creatively and instinctively get her older siblings into a heap of trouble. Sarah, I am sure regrets all those long classes of teaching Nessa the ropes once Nessa was let released from her crib.
She is referred to as our little Pooh because she is just so darn cute. She makes this cute little face that I have not yet found a camera with fast enough shutter speed in the dull light of our house to catch it. We call it the “Pooh Face”, I know what you are thinking, “wow, original name.” We thought it was just so darn cute of a name.
As the words begin to evolve from the mouth of my youngest daughter, she has become more forceful and prominent in the family not getting left out of any conversation. The words just seem to pop out at any moment. I have to admit though that it is so darn cute that her first words were “Thank you”.
Lucky (The Enforcer)
Lucky is our 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He is the most hyper dog that I have ever seen. All the dogs I had when I was growing up, none of them could compare to the over active Lucky. I remember he got lose one time and boy did his name come into play. Luckily he was missed by 4 cars as he took me on a jog about 7 city blocks. I finally was able to catch him barking at another dog that was pinned up in an outdoor chain link kennel. He is also the one that keeps everyone in line. So much so that he has injured Brandy once. The vet explained it was because he was trying to establish dominance over Logan who is older but came into our house after Lucky.
Logan (The Rescue)
Logan is our 7 year old Husky/Sheppard mix. He was rescued from a home where he was abused and tortured. He is very sick as well. Believe it or not he is allergic to almost everything from human dander to dust. He is even allergic to most foods and especially rice and beef. Which is a plus for him because in our house we don’t eat beef; it is strictly ground turkey, chicken, fish, and some pork for our meats. He is not aloud table scraps anyway, but with 7 children some do slip I am sure. No one will ever admit that they do but I know they do.
Brandy (The Mother)
Brandy is our 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier and the motherly figure. She will not quit barking at you until you see what the issue is whether it is with a child, the other dogs, the door or anything for that matter. She is the talker in our dog family. She tries to do this with the other dogs but Lucky is like a rebel teenager and fights back with a bark and a scare of his own. Brandy is very good with the children as is Logan. They are both very patient and very trustworthy when it comes to being left alone with the children.
Mocha (The Lazy)
Mocha is our 4 year old Miniature Pincher. All she wants to do on a daily basis is sleep in her home (that is what we call her indoor kennel). She always barks when there is someone in the office with us or when all the other dogs are barking up a storm. One time we opened up her kennel after letting our guest in the house and she would not come out to talk to them. She just stayed curled up in her 3 blankets in the back of her kennel barking under her breath. This is our lazy dog.
And So The Journey Begins…
As you can see, I have my hands tied, full, bound and whatever other words that you can describe as full. As you continue to be Lost in My Thoughts, I hope you can relate to the stories that I share and tales that I shall tell. I will be sure to not embellish any of my stories because I am sure that some of my stories will be hard enough to believe. I hope you enjoy and will give feedback and share your stories with me as well. I will try to be as interactive as possible and respond to you as quickly as I can. Thank you very much.
The Story Begins Now…..
